Selamat Datang movers, groovers and other furry animals
Well we are sitting in Starbucks in Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur completely knackered after a day of shopping but that’s cool because Malaysia is our 65th country and Kitson’s 8th country!!! YAY!
Actually, surprisingly Malaysia hasn’t been as cheap for shopping for things like electronics as we thought it would be compared to what we can get online at home. But that didn’t stop Avril from doing some pretty decent clothes shopping at Mango, and Kitson getting some serious Hello Kitty overdose.
Now surprisingly although KL just feels as familiar to us as every other South East Asian City we have been to… holy crap did we cop some culture shock coming here after being in the cold tranquil Himalayas. We arrived in Penang to 39 degrees and we were completely paralysed for a whole 2 days, so we actually did no sightseeing at all.
But that’s cool, since there was no way Malaysian culture or history could match what we saw in Bhutan, so we really just came here to eat and eat and eat some more.
Avril actually downloaded eating tours for KL and Penang, but after eating relatively healthily in Bhutan we just couldn’t keep up. I think I’ve eaten enough Char Kway Teow to put the Malacca up my Cloaca.
But the coolest thing we did here was to do a side trip out to Redang Island. Man… we stayed at an awesome low key family resort called Wisana with a little private beach and some of the nicest white sand and turquoise waters I have ever seen. It definitely pisses over anything in Thailand and is on par with the Caribbean and North Queensland beaches here in Australia.
And sea turtles laid eggs on the beach right at the resort and fed just off shore which was really cool since it was Kitson’s first try at snorkelling and she got to see stingrays, turtles and sharks.
Anyways, by the time we send this blog, we’ll be home.
We’ve been slackarsed at catching up with people these last couple of years so we are going to try much harder this year, so if we haven’t seen anyone lately, we should try and catch up.
And if you are bored our Malaysia pics are at this link with some more flying Kitson and Kitson Parkour pics
